Fall Kick-Off Event!

Please mark your calendars for the Texas Pastel Society's Fall Kick-off Event on Sunday, September 11th, 2016.  Susan Carlin, master artist, will be featured in a pastel portrait art demo at Coppini Fine Art Academy, our current art home on Melrose Avenue near Trinity University, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. following lunch at 1:00 p.m. --across the street from Coppini.  We will also have a general meeting so that we can meet and greet, plus get caught up on our new art events for 2016-2017.  

*Note:  This year our events will be on Sundays at Coppini.  That will be a change from the past.  

No reservation required for lunch. We'll meet at Coppini and walk to the restaurant.  It's close by.  Hope you'll join us in September.  We're going to have a GREAT year!

Texas Pastel at the Bijou

Still time to see the wonderful pastel art show at the Bijou Theatre Lobby.  It will run through May, invite family and friends.  If not planning on a movie, you may tell them that you just wish to see the art show, they will let you in.  Lots of great art!

The Bijou is located at Wonderland Mall(formerly Crossroads), corner 410 and Fredericksburg Rd.

TXPS April Announcements

•  Our valued TXPS board member, friend, and artist~~Roger Snyder~~passed away Sunday, April 3, 2016.  He has been our excellent Secretary for several years.  The funeral arrangements are private.  If you'd like to send a card, here is the family address:  Sondra Snyder (wife),  2051 Belvedere Ct., New Braunfels, TX  78130.  Please also look for our posts about Roger and his artwork on our TXPS blogspot and on our Facebook page.  He will be remembered fondly.  Our deepest sympathy goes out to his family.

2. Lunch at 11:30 a.m., Bobbie's Cafe, 6728 S. Flores, San Antonio
3. Plein Air Painting/Paint-out, Mission San Jose, 6701 San Jose Drive, San Antonio (off Roosevelt and Mission Roads), 1 to 3 p.m., bring along your art set-up and supplies and wear comfortable clothes and shoes

Sad News from the Texas Pastel Society

With a heavy heart we must let you know that our friend and fellow artist, Roger Snyder has passed away.

We extend our deepest sympathy to his wife, Sondra and family.  He will be dearly missed by all.

Roger served as our secretary and did a fine job, always ready to help.

We also wish to extend our condolences to our fellow member, Angelita Ortega, whose mother passed away recently.

Your loved ones touched many and enriched us all.  What a wonderful legacy.

TXPS February Kick-Off Meeting!

Hi TXPS Members!

Happy 2016!  The Texas Pastel Society wants to kick off the New Year with a meeting, art demo, and lunch on the first Saturday, February 6, 2016, 10:30 to 1:00 p.m. at this year's home base--Coppini Academy of Fine Arts, 115 Melrose Pl., San Antonio.  Our general meeting will include our spring plans and art show.  The art demo features local master pastel artist, Jeannette Cuevas.  Two of her paintings are included below.  Meeting is free for all members and $3.00 for nonmembers. We'll also finish with a nearby café lunch.  Hope you'll join us.

The Texas Pastel Society was formed in January 2008 to raise awareness of soft pastel art and provide group support for pastel artists in the south Texas area. Members meet several times a year to build on their pastel painting skills through demos, paint-outs, gallery/museum tours, local exhibitions, workshops, all-member shows, and juried competitions.

Requirements for membership are:
Annual Dues(Jan 1-Dec. 31): $30 for individuals no younger than 15, and volunteer on a committee when needed.

TXPS is a member of the International Association of Pastel Societies
